's entrenched from the northern plains down through colorado. it's snowing in west texas, from abilene, to lubbock, and new mexico, albuquerque up to santa fe is getting nailed. albuquerque still got some moderate snow and the winter storm warnings covering pretty much the state of new mexico. as we go for a drive, not even that far outside of the dallas-ft. worth area that we're starting to see the change from rain to snow, from midland out through abilene and north, up to wichita falls, you'll see some snowflakes. here's the cold air. the wind chill this morning is minus 7 here in nebraska. it's the opposite on the east coast. if anything your biggest weather concern is fog this morning, a lot of dense fog in southern new england, down outside of new york city, philadelphia and d.c. so be careful driving with that. there's no wind chill at all for the east coast. so enjoy it, probably a day or two more of this. temperatures, 80s in florida, 70s up through the carolinas, 60s from d.c. new york city near 60. the cold air entrenched, minneapolis to chicago. down in areas of texas today.

northern arizona, snow today. we want to mention winter storm watches, northwest kansas, panhandle of texas, may see a few areas starting off with freezing rain, slick surfaces in the roads, topped off through western kansas with snowfall. so be careful travelwise into the start of the weekend. that's where the snow is right now in northern arizona, the rain in texas we'll see a few areas, much-needed rain, up to almost locally two inches, in a few areas a little bit more than that. back to detroit, i mentioned the snow around an inch or so, possible. especially north of town into northern reaches of the adirondacks. but the eastern coast of d.c., coming in quiet. we'll take a closer look at temperatures across the rest of the country. a few of us waking up warmer than yesterday. >>> also coming up on the watch for jobs, more signs of recovery and can the color of the can make a difference in taste? your "first look" at this morning's business headlines is straight ahead. >>> coming up, a great finish in college football. donovan mcnabb back on the market and how did skittles beat the eagle

, a lot of action, snow in colorado, heavy rain in texas, but the warm temperatures in the east. it's just another morning to shake your head. 53 degrees in boston as you wake up and grab the paper and go out to the car this morning, it's ridiculous. it's record highs this time of year. this is an incredibly mild air mass that's in the eastern u.s. all the cold air in the west, 25 in denver with snow, minneapolis has cooled off. a little cooler in chicago, kansas city and st. louis. as far as denver goes, we've already picked up a couple inches of snow. by the time it ends later today, you'll probably have about six to eight on the ground. you're guaranteed now a white christmas. i-25, colorado springs snowing good all the way to pueblo, this is heading for new mexico. everyone in colorado is looking at a white christmas and many areas of new mexico. that's where we'll pick up three to six inches. albuquerque, maybe two to three for you. our computers are thinking a little light snow is possible in areas of new england. eventually all the rain drenching houston this morning, louisiana will

cooler in areas of texas and oklahoma but if you're anywhere in the eastern seaboard it's an umbrella day. this huge shield goes from florida northward all the way up towards georgia, rain covers kentucky and also ohio now. you can see the back of the storm. there's white, that's the snow changing -- that's the rain changing over to some snow here. now, temperatures are warm enough the roads should be fine. may get minor accumulation on your car or grassy surfaces but once up to detroit, cleveland, toledo, you may have to do shoveling. 1 to 3 inches. a little enhancement in areas of higher elevation outside of erie and lake enhancement. buffalo, you could get snow. winter weather advisories, pittsburgh expecting 1 to 3 inches. typically it's no big deal but this is one of the first snow events for some of these areas. syracuse will get the ground covered possibly burlington, vermont. it's a very warm day out ahead of the storm. temperatures as warm as 50 as far north as new york city, area ins in massachusetts will be warm. the combeder air on the back side will move in behind it wednesda
